We coordinate the maker
A vetted CITES-compliant maker produces it; you receive the strap with documentation. We coordinate; they craft.
A rattan webbing supplier is a partner who can source consistent woven cane and synthetic webbing, check it against your specs, and ship it with correct export documentation. That is exactly what we do: an independent Indonesian rattan webbing sourcing and export desk for natural and synthetic rolls, set up for B2B orders, MOQ up, with clear lead times and Incoterms.
Rattan Webbing Supplier: Who We Are (and Who We Are Not)
I’m Bayu Kusuma, Head of Webbing Sourcing & Export. Rattan Webbing Supplier is an independent materials desk based between Bali and Java. We manage a vetted network of weaving ateliers in Cirebon and surrounding rattan hubs, plus PE (synthetic) webbing mills and natural fiber braiders for seagrass and bamboo.
We are:
- A trade-facing rattan webbing wholesale and export office for natural rattan, synthetic PE, seagrass, and bamboo.
- Focused on roll-based supply: open to closed weave, hexagon, radio, herringbone, and custom patterns.
- Set up for export-ready QC, moisture checks, packing, and full trade documentation (PEB, COO, HS codes, packing lists, commercial invoices).
- Direct and realistic about MOQ, lead times, and what local producers can (and cannot) achieve at your price point.
We are not:
- Not a single factory. We source from multiple Cirebon-area workshops and industrial mills, pattern by pattern.
- Not a dropship retail shop. Our work is container and LCL–focused: buyers who want to buy rattan webbing in bulk.
- Not a miracle worker. If a weave, width, or finish is unstable in mass production here, we will tell you before you issue a PO.
What You Can Source Through Us
Our desk focuses on four main material categories and the patterns most buyers request. Specs vary slightly by producer; we match you to the workshop that can hit your tolerance range on width, roll length, moisture, and color.
1. Natural Rattan Webbing (Cane Webbing)
This is the traditional peeled rattan cane (mainly Calamus rotang family) woven into sheets. It’s what furniture makers and restorers usually mean by “cane webbing supplier”.
- Widths (common): 40 cm, 45 cm, 50 cm, 60 cm, 90 cm, 100 cm, 120 cm
- Standard roll lengths: 15 m and 50 ft equivalents; some patterns limited to 15 m max due to loom width and consistency constraints.
- Thickness: approx. 1.5–2.5 mm depending on pattern and strip width.
- Finish: natural (unbleached), lightly bleached, and select pre-stained tones on request (stained adds time and more QC).
Natural cane is handwoven or semi-handwoven. It will always carry some variation in color, strand width, node marking, and tension. We manage this by:
- Aligning expectations on acceptable color-range upfront (e.g. “light-cream to honey,” not a single Pantone).
- Specifying maximum allowed broken strands per square meter.
- Checking weave tension so panels don’t sag or over-tighten during installation.
2. Synthetic PE Rattan Webbing
For high-humidity, outdoor, and hospitality projects, synthetic PE rattan webbing removes the moisture sensitivity of natural cane.
- Material: UV-stabilized polyethylene (PE) or PE+PP blends based on mill.
- Widths (common): 45 cm, 50 cm, 60 cm, 90 cm; some mills can extrude custom widths with higher MOQ.
- Standard roll lengths: 25 m, 50 m; longer runs possible with planning.
- Colors: natural-mimic tones (natural, honey, walnut) plus solid black, white, grey, taupe, and custom RAL-ish tones with MOQ.
PE webbing is more dimensionally stable than natural rattan and easier to clean; pattern repeat and strip width consistency are significantly tighter. However, not all mills hit the same standard. We only place export orders with mills that can hold width and roll length tolerance as quoted.
3. Seagrass Webbing & Braided Panels
For a different texture, many designers combine rattan with seagrass.
- Construction: braided seagrass plaits then woven into sheets.
- Widths: commonly 45–90 cm; wider needs planning and higher MOQ.
- Use-cases: drawer fronts, wall panels, cabinet doors, decor accents.
Seagrass shows more color shift batch to batch than rattan and is more odor-sensitive if dried improperly. Our role is to keep only makers with reliable drying racks and storage in the pool for export orders.
4. Bamboo Webbing & Panels
Bamboo webbing is less common but requested for projects seeking a different grain and sustainability profile.
- Formats: split bamboo strips in open weave, tight weave, and diagonal patterns.
- Widths: usually 45 cm and 90 cm; wider becomes more defect-prone.
- Applications: screens, wall inlay, select furniture components.
Key Patterns: From Open Weave to Closed and Specialty
Not every village workshop can execute every pattern consistently in export-grade quality. We match your pattern choice with an atelier that has proven runs at the width and roll length you need.
Open Weave (Standard “Radio” / “Hexagon” Cane)
This is the classic 6-way hexagon open weave you see on chairs and cabinet doors.
- Natural rattan: the most common pattern we export.
- Standard cell sizes: approx. ½ inch and ⅝ inch across; metric equivalents available.
- Roll widths most stable at: 45, 50, 60, 90 cm.
- Uses: chairs, cabinet doors, speaker grilles, radiator covers, decorative panels.
Closed Weave (Plain / Twill)
Closed weave webbing gives a solid surface with no punch-through holes. Good for drawer fronts, headboards, and privacy panels.
- Natural cane closed weave: tighter tolerance required; we recommend max 90 cm width for consistent tension.
- Synthetic closed weave: more predictable; widely used in hospitality.
Closed weave has a higher strip-density per square meter, so it runs heavier and usually costs more per m² than open weave of the same width.
Herringbone & Chevron
Herringbone patterns are popular with interior designers but not every workshop will accept wide-width herringbone in natural cane; tension and alignment issues appear faster than with hexagon.
- Recommended widths for natural herringbone: 45–60 cm for stable QC; above that we validate with pre-production samples.
- PE herringbone: more stable at 90 cm and up, subject to mill capability.
Radio Weave (Square & Diamond)
“Radio weave” is a broad category for more decorative open patterns (squares, diamonds, and combinations). These show better as cabinet inserts and wall features than as heavily loaded seating.
- Natural versions: widely requested by restorers needing period-appropriate looks.
- Pattern tolerance: we specify maximum shift allowed across roll width to avoid visible misalignment when cut into panels.
Hex, Fancy & Custom Patterns
Complex or custom patterns can be produced, but they come with longer development lead times, higher MOQs, and a clearer risk of variation.
- We typically start with a 1–2 roll pilot run and shipping sample.
- Only after approval do we book a larger production slot.
Natural vs Synthetic: Quick Comparison
Below is a simplified comparison for buyers deciding between a natural rattan webbing supplier and synthetic alternatives.
| Attribute | Natural Rattan Webbing | Synthetic PE Webbing |
|---|---|---|
| Core use-cases | Indoor furniture, restorations, cabinets, decorative panels | Outdoor furniture, hospitality, high-humidity or heavy-cleaning environments |
| Appearance | Authentic cane grain, visible nodes, natural color variation | More uniform color and strip width, natural-look or solid colors |
| Moisture sensitivity | Needs controlled humidity in storage and shipping; can expand/contract | Highly moisture-resistant; more dimensionally stable |
| UV exposure | Can darken over time in sunlight | UV-stabilized grades handle sun better; check spec per mill |
| Repair / restoration | Preferred for period-correct furniture and antique chairs | Less common in heritage restoration, more in new-builds |
| MOQ | Lower pattern MOQs possible (by roll), but batch-color can vary | Often higher MOQ per color/pattern, especially for custom colors |
| Price band (per m², ex-works, last verified June 2026) | Medium; varies with pattern, width and grade | Medium to high; complex patterns and colors add cost |
Typical Roll Specs, MOQ, and Tolerances
Because we source from multiple producers, exact numbers will be confirmed in your quotation. However, below are realistic working assumptions for planning if you want to buy rattan webbing in bulk.
Natural Rattan Webbing – Common Specifications
- Roll width tolerance: typically ±2–3 mm per roll; we reject rolls beyond this band unless you pre-approve.
- Roll length tolerance: usually –0 m / +0.5 m on 15 m rolls; short rolls are not accepted for export-grade orders.
- Moisture content at packing: target range checked with moisture meters; too high increases mold risk, too low increases brittleness.
- Standard MOQ (by pattern/width):
- Core hexagon open weave 45–60 cm: MOQs can start at 10–20 rolls.
- Hexagon 90–120 cm: higher MOQ and longer lead times due to loom capacity.
- Closed weave and herringbone: generally higher MOQ than open weave.
We can consolidate mixed widths and patterns in one shipment; the MOQ applies pattern-by-pattern at the workshop level, not per container.
Synthetic PE Webbing – Common Specifications
- Roll width tolerance: tighter than natural, typically within ±1–2 mm.
- Roll length tolerance: mills usually hold 25 m and 50 m rolls to –0 / +1 m tolerance.
- Color consistency: good within a production batch; batch-to-batch variation is minor but still checked against retained swatches.
- MOQ by color/pattern:
- Standard colors and patterns: lower MOQ possible.
- Custom colors: higher MOQ plus surcharge for color-matching and setup.
How We Vet and QC Our Producers
Indonesia has many small and medium rattan weaving workshops. Quality ranges from excellent to export-incompatible. Our desk filters aggressively before we attach any atelier’s production to your PO.
What We Check Before We Place Orders
- Weave consistency: random measurement across width and along the roll for cell repeat, strand spacing, and visible skew.
- Roll length accuracy: sample rolls measured against quoted length to ensure the factory’s cutting and labeling are honest and repeatable.
- Moisture control: actual storage conditions, drying time, air circulation, and use of desiccants for export cartons.
- Defect tolerance: negotiation of maximum allowed broken strands, discoloration areas, patching, and knot frequency.
- Traceability: workshop ownership, worker conditions, and stability; we avoid “pop-up” operators chasing spot orders only.
QC Before Export
Before we green-light a shipment, our team (or our trusted QC partner in Cirebon) will:
- Open sample rolls from each batch and pattern.
- Measure width at several points.
- Check color and finish against your approved standard.
- Inspect for mold, insect presence, or moisture damage.
- Verify label accuracy (width, length, pattern code).
If a batch fails on critical points, we hold the shipment and negotiate re-weaving or replacement with the producer. We prefer to lose some time in Indonesia rather than have you reject a container at destination.
Export Documentation & Shipping Terms
As a sourcing and export desk, we handle trade documentation and coordinate with your freight forwarder or arrange export on agreed Incoterms. You get rattan webbing wholesale shipments that clear standard audits and customs checks efficiently.
Standard Documentation Package
- Commercial Invoice: itemized by pattern, width, roll count, and price.
- Packing List: carton-wise breakdown with gross/net weights and volumes.
- PEB (Pemberitahuan Ekspor Barang): Indonesian export declaration filed as required.
- Certificate of Origin (COO): issued via authorized Indonesian chamber or body, as per your importing country’s practice.
- HS Codes: aligned to product type (natural rattan, synthetic plastic webbing, seagrass, bamboo) and pre-agreed with your broker when needed.
- Fumigation / treatment certificates: available where destination rules require them, especially for natural fibers.
Incoterms We Commonly Use
- FOB Indonesian Port: You appoint the freight forwarder and carrier; we deliver cleared goods on board. Works well if you already have volume lanes.
- CIF / CFR Main Port: On request, we can quote ocean freight to your main port via our forwarders. Local on-carriage on your side remains your responsibility.
- EXW (Ex-Works): Possible for buyers with local offices or consolidators in Indonesia, picking up at Cirebon or warehouse locations.
We do not operate as a retail parcel shipper. Small sample rolls can go via courier, but production orders are LCL or FCL sea freight by design.
Lead Times by Pattern and Material
Lead times depend on pattern complexity, width, material, and workshop capacity at the time of PO. Instead of generic promises, we always give you a pattern-specific lead time when quoting.
Natural Rattan Lead Times (Indicative)
- Core open hexagon patterns, 45–60 cm: faster; workshops run these continuously.
- 90–120 cm open hexagon: longer lead times; loom capacity is more limited and defects increase.
- Closed weave / herringbone: slower to produce per square meter; plan extra weeks.
- Bleached or pre-stained finishes: add time for drying, re-checking color consistency, and rework if needed.
Synthetic PE Lead Times (Indicative)
- Standard colors and patterns: mills can usually schedule these faster.
- Custom color runs: require lab dips / color approval, then full production; this is the longest lead-time case.
- Wide-width or thick-gauge patterns: may share extrusion lines with other products, so slots must be reserved in advance.
We’ll always tie lead time to a specific PO date and pattern mix. If your project has a hard deadline, flag that early; we will either build a workable production + shipping plan or tell you candidly if Indonesia cannot hit the date for the pattern you want.
Who We Serve: Typical Buyer Profiles
Our buyers range from large factories to small design studios. The common point: all are sourcing rattan webbing wholesale, not retail one-off cuts.

Chair makers, cabinet factories, and casegoods manufacturers in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas depend on repeatable quality.
- We help lock in stable specs and recurring runs.
- We can support multi-pattern programs for collections (e.g. hexagon cane for doors, closed weave for drawer fronts).
Interior Designers & Architects
Designers specify rattan, seagrass, and bamboo webbing for hospitality and residential projects.
- We translate moodboard images into viable Indonesian patterns and finishes.
- We clarify upfront which concepts are realistic at scale versus suited only for custom handmade panels.
Restorers & Cane Workshops
Restoration workshops and independent cane repairers need reliable access to period-appropriate hexagon and radio weaves.
- We consolidate mix-width, mix-pattern orders into exportable quantities.
- We pay extra attention to cell size and strand width matching.
Hotel & Resort FF&E Buyers
FF&E procurement teams for hotels, resorts, and serviced apartments often use rattan and synthetic webbing for headboards, chairs, and divider screens.
- We align material choice with maintenance requirements (e.g. synthetic for poolside, natural for indoor suites).
- We coordinate shipments with furniture OEMs when possible to reduce logistics complexity.
Craft & Materials Stores
Regional craft stores and material libraries use us as their natural rattan webbing supplier for roll-based inventory.
- We provide packed rolls with basic labeling for easy resale.

If you’re planning a sourcing visit to Indonesia or building a new materials program and want to discuss options before you commit, you can plan your trip or request an RFQ; we’re comfortable hashing out details over WhatsApp as well as email.
How to Request a Quote (RFQ)
An efficient RFQ saves time for both sides. To quote accurately as your cane webbing supplier, we need more than just “rattan webbing”.
Information to Include in Your RFQ
- Material: natural rattan, synthetic PE, seagrass, bamboo (or a combination).
- Pattern: open hexagon (cell size if known), closed plain, closed twill, herringbone, radio, custom (with reference images if custom).
- Widths: in cm; acceptable alternatives (e.g. “prefer 60 cm, 45 cm acceptable as backup”).
- Roll length: preferred (15 m, 25 m, 50 m, etc.).
- Finish / color: natural, bleached, stained (tone reference), or PE color requirements.
- Order quantity: rolls per pattern/width or total square meters.
- Destination port & Incoterm preference: FOB Indonesia, CIF main port, etc.
- Target delivery window: realistic range (e.g. “ready at destination between October–November”).
Send your requirements and any drawings or images via email, and mention if you prefer follow-up over WhatsApp. You can also start the conversation and plan your trip if you want to visit suppliers on the ground.
Natural Variation & What We Will Not Promise
Rattan, seagrass, and bamboo are natural materials, hand- or semi-handwoven. Even with strict QC, some variation is inherent.
We will not promise:
- Identical color between batches separated by many months.
- Zero defects on handwoven rolls (our job is to keep defect rate within your agreed tolerance).
- A pattern or width that our Cirebon ateliers cannot run reliably at your required volume.
What we can promise is to be explicit about risks, variation ranges, and feasible alternatives before you commit to a production timeline.

FAQ
Can you match the exact cane webbing pattern I already use from another supplier?
We can usually match cell size, strand width, and general pattern for common hexagon and radio weaves, but an exact visual match across different sources is not guaranteed, especially for natural cane. For critical projects, we recommend you approve physical samples against your existing stock before you switch suppliers.
What is the smallest quantity I can order if I want to buy rattan webbing in bulk?
We are set up for wholesale, not single-roll retail. For core natural hexagon patterns in common widths, MOQs can start in the low dozens of rolls per pattern/width. For specialty patterns, very wide rolls, or custom PE colors, the MOQ will be higher. We will specify the MOQ clearly in your quotation by pattern and width.
How do you reduce the risk of mold or moisture damage during shipping?
We check moisture content before packing, only use workshops with proper drying and covered storage, and specify inner plastic wrapping and desiccant in cartons for natural fibers. We also coordinate with your forwarder on routing and transit time so cargo is not unnecessarily exposed in tropical ports. No one can fully remove the risk, but these steps significantly reduce it.
Can you supply both natural rattan webbing and synthetic PE in the same shipment?
Yes, we frequently consolidate natural cane, synthetic PE webbing, and sometimes seagrass or bamboo panels in one LCL or FCL shipment. The key is clear carton labeling and packing lists by material and HS code, which we prepare as part of the export documentation.
Do you work only with large factories, or also with smaller workshops and designers?
We work with a range of buyers: furniture factories, hotel FF&E teams, restoration workshops, and design studios. The main requirement is that your orders make sense at export scale in terms of MOQ and documentation. If your needs are still below that level, we can still advise on specs so you are ready once your volume grows, and you can plan your trip or discuss future sourcing over WhatsApp.
